dr. richard
janka, LP

Dr. Janka is the founder and clinical director of Frontline Consulting and a fully licensed psychologist in the State of Michigan. He has nearly 15 years of experience working with first responders. Dr. Janka has served as a reserve officer, worked in the mental health unit of a county jail, and has been a member of a hostage and crisis negotiation team. He has trained police officers, fire fighters, paramedics, and dispatchers across the state of Michigan. He is experienced, passionate, knowledgeable, professional, reliable, and personable.

scott macinnis, LLP

Scott received his undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice from Eastern Michigan University. He went on to receive his Master's in Clinical Psychology from the Michigan School of Psychology. Scott has a passion for working with first responders and the justice involved population. He draws on his experience as a police officer, family preservation worker, probation officer, and psychologist with the Michigan Department of Corrections. Scott works with juveniles, adults, and couples. He offers an empathetic, non-judgmental approach that helps foster the therapeutic relationship.

Jill jacobs, TLLP

Jill is a graduate of the University of Dearborn with a Master’s in Criminal Justice and Administration and Northwestern University Police Staff and Command.  She has also received a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from the Michigan School of Psychology. Jill is a retired police sergeant from the City of Southfield, with nearly 25 years of police experience to include time with the Detroit Police Department and the Wayne County Sheriff's Department. Jill has a passion to assist First Responders work through mental health struggles of everyday life as well as traumas from the job. In addition, Jill works with family members of First Responders to help them through their journey with their loved one.

Ashley Kierpaul, TLLP

Ashley received her undergraduate degree in psychology at Michigan State University. She graduated with her master’s degree in clinical psychology from the Michigan School of Psychology.  Ashley began her career as a trooper for the Michigan State Police in March 2016, where she still works as a sergeant assigned as a police psychologist for the Office of Behavioral Science. She also served as a commissioned officer for the Army National Guard Military Police. Ashley uses her experience in the military and law enforcement, as well as her experience growing up in a law enforcement family, to provide understanding, humanistic therapy to first responders and military veterans. She also received training in Gottnam Level I and II couple’s counseling, which she uses to assist couples navigating the demands of military and first responder careers.


STAFF EXPERIENCE

  • Dr. Janka and his staff have worked with LEO's at the local, county, state, and federal level. He has experience on the road as patrol and as an on-scene coach for hostage and crisis negotiations. All other staff members also have law enforcement experience.

    Jill is a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command. She worked various assignments while in Patrol and Investigations as a police officer and sergeant. While with the police department Jill was an instructor in Use of Force, Report Writing, and First Aid and CPR. Jill was a member of the Honor Guard Unit for nearly 20 years.

    Ashley began her career as a trooper for the Michigan State Police in March 2016, where she still works as a sergeant assigned as a police psychologist for the Office of Behavioral Science.

  • Dr. Janka has been helping fire departments in the Metro Detroit area build and maintain peer support teams. The staff provides fire departments with debriefings, consultations, and evaluations.

  • Dr. Janka has provided trainings and participated in job shadows in communication centers in Michigan and other states.

  • Ashley served as a commissioned officer for the Army National Guard Military Police.

  • Dr. Janka has been providing individual and group debriefings as well as counseling services for EMS personnel for the past 15 years.
